SATELLITE DERIVED POSITIONS
Positions obtained from satellite navigation systems referred to WGS 84 Datum can be plotted directly onto this chart. Caution must be exercised in the transfer of geographical positions to other charts not in terms of WGS 84 Datum.

AIDS TO NAVIGATION
The aids to navigation shown on this chart are not to be relied on. Certain lights, buoys and beacons in the inner waters and channels are not shown on this chart. For these the larger scale charts must be consulted.

CURRENTS
The general direction of current flow in this region is westerly, although close in to the islands, directions can vary, being easterly along the south side of Upolu Island. Average rates do not exceed 1.5 knots though a value of 4 knots has been observed close to the western end of Tutuila Island. For further information see Admiralty Sailing Directions

FISH AGGREGATING DEVICES (FADs)
Mariners should exercise caution as FADs have been moored at inshore and outlying locations. Some FADs may show flashing lights and are painted orange: concentrations of fishing vessels may be found in their vicinity.
