Aotea Great Barrier Island - Controlled Area Notice Zone - Red

1.) Mariners are advised that the Aotea Great Barrier Island Controlled Area is in place.

2.) In the red zones, no fishing is allowed that uses a method that makes contact with the sea floor including dredging, bottom trawling, flounder netting and cray/crab-potting.

3.) Anchoring is illegal without a permit issued by Biosecurity New Zealand. A permit is not required in the event of an emergency where there is no other safe sheltering or mooring location.
